Story
I am trying to fund raise for the Watoto Living Hope charity (More info underneath). These guys do a great job in my opinion and have a holistic approach to the whole process. Remember every dollar you give is a kilometer of pain I have to endure :)
The aim of the project is to provide comprehensive HIV/AIDs care, trauma counselling and vocational training to abandoned HIV+ women and their children in Uganda. Watoto operates two Living Hope centres in Uganda, one operating in Kampala (accommodating 1200 women) and the other in Gulu (accommodating 900 women). These centres provide vocational training in the areas of tailoring, weaving, doll making, bead work, coffee packing as well as communication and business skills, with the goal of enabling the women to enter the workforce or create micro-enterprises for income generation and self-sufficiency. Watoto’s overall objective with the program is to reduce the number of orphans and children at risk through the empowerment of mothers in the country.

Watoto Australia
Watoto is a family made up of people from all over the world who are working together to ensure that the forgotten have a place to belong. In a time of civil war, we planted a local church in Kampala, Uganda to speak hope and life to the nation. Since then, we’ve placed thousands of orphans in families, empowered thousands of vulnerable women to reach their communities, rescued babies and former child soldiers, and sent children’s choirs across six continents. As we work alongside the most vulnerable in our society, our aim is to rescue individuals and raise each one as a leader in his or her sphere of life so that, in turn, they will rebuild the nation. Watoto Australia (ABN 83 176 101 461) is proud to be a partner with Global Development Group (ABN 57 102 400 993): an Australian NGO approved by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and responsible for aid and development project J210 according to OAGDS guidelines. If projects are overfunded, funds may be directed towards other approved project activities.
